Hi I have a problem with the headlights on my 2010 Mercedes 250 coupe
When the lights are on main beam they seem to deflect all over the place except on the road ahead. Presumably the reflective coating inside the units have got damaged or corroded in some way. Does anyone know the correct part number for replacement lights. As far as I can determine the Saloon has a different light to my Coupe. Any advice would be mist helpful.
Thank you

Have you checked that the bulbs are fitted correctly?

New Headlights will be expensive!

Did you check if the damaged coating is on the inner side or outer side of the lense?

These lenses do suffer from UV deterioration on the outer side, which can be fixed (check youtube).

Also, these are the basic Halogen H7 bulbs, right? Not HID Xenon?

Thanks I will check although I am pretty sure it's on the inside a bit like condensation

If the headlight reflector is just dirty rather than damaged, it can be cleaned safely. Do a search on cleaning telescope mirrors and follow the instructions. Basically it involves pouring a hot mixture of alcohol, distilled water and some pure soap inside the headlamp and swilling it around followed by a distilled water rinse and dry. I did this to clean my motorcycle headlight reflector which at the time was 40 years old and quite dull. It made a noticeable difference to the light output.

Thanks for the reply but I think it's more to do with the silver coming off

Any photos of this peeling ?

As above - some pictures would be useful. I wondered if they were aftermarket replacements or something?

We have a 2007 Vito with 190k miles on it and the reflectors on that still look perfect :dk:

It has certainly suffered from the fine UV crazing to the outside surfaces already mentioned though. Luckily this is a relatively cheap and easy DIY fix.
