Hi all - I just wanted to introduce myself as a new member and a soon to be new Mercedes owner! I'm sorry if this isn't the right section to post this but I couldn't find a 'newbies' section!

So, what brings me here? I currently drive a BMW M6 which I have owned for just 6 months  having previously owned other BMW's including a 335i and a new M3 V8.

But the time has come to make a change - I've never 'gelled' with the M6 and actually considered going back to an M3. However, after 6-months of M6 ownership I was extremely disappointed when I recently tried an M3 again, finding it a little dated inside, quite unrefined and (surprisingly), it felt like it was lacking in power and torque.

So, I decided to step out of the BMW fold. I'm not a fan of Audi's and so the automatic choice was to try a C63 AMG :D. What did I think?.... Nice interior and build, good refinement and....THAT engine. It certainly didn't feel slow or lacking in torque, even after the more powerful M6! And what a noise...I was very impressed.

So, about 5 minutes after I drove it down went a deposit on an ex-demo metallic black C63 with just 1400 miles on the clock. The car is loaded....

AMG Performance Pack
AMG Drivers Pack
19" Wheels
Harmon Kardon
DAB
Comand
Parktronic
Sunblinds
Privacy Glass
Luxury Climate Control
Active Lights

...I actually think the dealer ticked every box!

I've managed to get it at £8k off list which I hope is a good deal and I really hope it doesn't lose as much value as my M3 did :(

I've got to wait until the end of September to get the car as the dealer has only had it for 6 weeks and apparently they have to have it for 3 months as a demo until they let it go....it'll be the longest 6 weeks ever!

I hope I haven't bored you with my excitement and if there's any 'must-knows' as a new (soon to be) Mercedes owner then let me know.

Andrew

Hello and welcome!

Coming over from the Dark Side.. you know it makes sense.

An excellent choice of car. I'm very jealous.. :)

Cheers,

Welcome! And nice choice!

A 'must know' is that you are obliged to loan the car for an extended weekend to any forum member who has been on for longer than 2 years. Honest! Would I lie! :bannana::bannana:

You'll find this is the Best Forum Ever with a healthy mix of car stuff, debate and utter nonsense. Which of course lets me segue straight to a certain member who is also anticipating delivery of a C63 AMG - his is due in October. He rejoices in the name of Scumbag - I leave you to draw your own conclusions :D

Welcome to the forum. Very nice car, good options. I'd be tempted to instruct the dealer to curb driving speed during test drives, avoid sudden acceleration, properly vet any test pilots and agree any extended test drives with you before letting them into the driver's seat. You can also..aahhrrgghhh..car isn't yours for another 6 weeks!

Good things (including a mouth watering C63) come to those who wait.

Welcome on board Andrew. :)

Welcome

Will enjoy the pics when you have them. Are you p/xing the m6? that must have lost a bit or was it 2nd hand.

enjoy

Hi all...so far. You're a friendly bunch aren't you! :D

I actually didn't lose on the M6....for the first time in my life I made a teeny bit of money on a car! I bought it 6 months ago when the market was dead and used values have significantly increased - I have part-ex'd it for £1.5k more than I paid for it at a main dealer. Result I think!

well done... yep used car prices are sky high and im sure dealers would have fist fights over a well specced M6..

Result :)

Makes the C63 swap even better :)

Yes we generally are a nice bunch, were you on the BMW forum? I had a 330ci convertible and was on their. Good forum but a lot of smeg heads...

PS, not saying your a smeg head.... :) :) :)

Hi A210AMG - yes I was on the BMW forums, predominantly e90post. There are some great people on there too but I'm looking forward to seeing what shenanigans go on here!

Mmmm....smeg head. Is that what BMW drivers are known as to Mercedes drivers?? ;)

Welcome Palmball. It will be interesting to here how you think a performance pack C63 fares up to an M3. Both wonderful drivers cars and the C63 IMHO is a better value package. We have good selection meets and in Loughborough you are well placed to attend many of the events we have on the go.

Hi *** - Yes, I'm up for that - where do i find details of events or are they generally well publicised?

On the 1/2 hour test rive I had, the C63 appeared to be even more hardcore than the M3 which I believe is down to the AMG PP. The ride is seriously stiff and it does not roll in bends; the M3 was a very good handling car and very easy to go sideways in. I can't wait to see if the C63 will do the same but my first impression doesn't give me any cause for concern!

You need to be signed in but just trawl through and see what takes your fancy.

When scumbag was optioning his car, we did a good job in talking him into an LSD (actually a cr4p one as he didn't). The PP adds this vital device for a car so powerful. Thats whats always given M cars such an advantage is their LSD. IMHO LSD's should be in all the diesel cars and 6 clyinder + petrol cars on account of their torque.

You'll love it.

Welcome to the forum. :)

Congrats on the latest purchase and a good choice as well. I doubt the C63 will disappoint you.

Welcome Andrew, very nice car, hope you enjoy it as much as I would!
