Hello from Cyprus. I just bought an "approved used" C180K facelift version, about a month ago from Mercedes Benz UK.

I am very happy with the car, but there are a few things that I would like to discuss before taking it for inspection:

1. The outside temperature gauge is constantly reading -40'C. Now, I wonder is it something that needs calibration or does it need repair?

2. The fuel consumption in the city is on the high side. However, in the highway it is ok. I managed 38.4 mpg at a short trip yesterday, and I was traveling with 75 mph all along! Is this normal?

3. Last, do you thing that for servicing a specialist is better than the main dealer?

OK here is the car:

Hello, and welcome, can I ask which part of Cyprus you are from? :)

Hey Gina. I am from Nicosia, the capital. Now, if you mean nationality, I am greek cypriot.

Now, back to the sensor, yeap, it is faulty allright, went to Mercedes Benz, and they verified that the wire is on, and next week it is going in for a new sensor.

Abit dissapointed really, since the car is an "Approved Used Mercedes Benz" and they were supposed to check all that stuff beforehand.

I dont want to say the name of the dealer, beforehand, because I am expecting a refund on the sensor.

38.4mpg isn't a dissappointing fuel consumption.

Welcome BTW.

I don't wish to disappoint you but couldn't the mpg computer thingy be faulty too? Just joking. Seriously, the only way to measure fuel economy is to fill the tank to the very top - drive - then fill it to the very top again. Asuming your car is measuring the kilometers correctly - correct rolling radius for the tyres / wheels - then I'd do the above check. Computers are computers after all, but generally speaking, your fuel tank stays the same size.

Welcome to the forum my friend from another cypriot that lives and drives and MB here in the uk, that makes 3 of us now. :p

Hi there - love cyprus ...welcome and I hope you're happy with your MB..:bannana:

Thanks mate. Yeah, Cyprus is a nice place, especially for holidays...

Well, regarding the temp sensor, it seems as if the connecting plug was not seating properly. Now the sensor is working fine.

I did notice however, that a total of three out of four alloys of mine have some bubbles.... is this right for a 3 year old car?

Hope Mercedes Benz gets it fixed FOC because it is a real shame for them having such a thing.... I have never seen anything like this, not even in cheap alloy wheels, nevertheless some MB ones.

The clear polished lacquer can bubble I do not think that its used any more as they are using chrome paints now do not use wheel cleaners on them

Sorry for continuing this thread, but should MB cover their own mishab???
Wheels are like bubbly now.

Its a some do and some will not, all you can do it to put up a fight if they refuse, if all fails then have them chrome powder coated,, this ranges from light chrome to dark or two tone effect

What is the point having the mobilolife program then, if they cant fix their own mistakes?

If 3 out of 4 wheels have bubbles on them, it certainly is not my fault, especially since I only bought the "Approved Used" a month ago~!

Lets see..
