Hello all, new member introduction here.

I recently bought a S211 as I needed more seats. I've previously driven mainly Japanese cars as I like their reliability but have always liked the E-class estate. It's one of the last proper estates, not one of these lifestyle shooting things with half the boot gone in a haphazard bid to emulate something of a coupe. I've 2 small kids that need child seats and with modern car design this takes up all of the rear seat. My S211 has the fold up bench in the boot so when the in-laws come over I can have the whole family in the car without having to settle for an MPV as a daily driver.

My friend recommended I go for the post-face-lift and he said I wouldn't regret buying this car. I can see his point as the car is very comfortable to drive, even in the basic Elegance trim I have.

Unfortunately, the one I picked up for far too much money needed wheels, tyres, front N/S suspension and MOT. I fixed the star in the windscreen myself and decided to ignore the worn bootlid struts, torn driver seat and oil seeping turbo hose.

So, here's me. Hopefully I won't be needing too much support from this site (i.e. I hope the car will be reliable) but I am grateful for all the advise I will receive.

Greetings and welcome to the group - I have always owned Japanese cars over 40 years, very reliable.... but i too had an itch.

The MB cannot hold a candle to the reliability of the Shogun / X-Trail / CR-V ....... but the Japanese cars are NOT a MB!! I love mine, and still have a Honda CR-V for those days when the MB sulks!
