HELP!!! CLS 55 AMG 2006 DEAD!

Yes, it does but it doesn't provide emergency opening of doors. If the main battery dies, so does the system completely. Only if the voltage drops low during IGN on and engine running does the AUX come into play.

This thread reminded me I kept meaning to ask you, I'm sure you've said previously, when you had your 55, that MB recommended you connect at least one of the fly leads for trickle charging somewhere else in the boot rather than directly to the battery where mine still are?

Yes, one to the battery positive the other to the mounting bolt of the BCM. This way the BCM 'knows' the battery is being charged. Why, I've no idea..

Ta muchly, will do it at the weekend.

OK just when I thought this was sorted....
had a nice day about 4 days ago so took the Merc for a run...all was fine. Parked back in the Garage and the following day...completely dead! I know its not the Alternator...as I always check she starts again after a run and with whats happened in the past....
Anyway....I started the AMP DRAIN TEST using meter....and (though not fully confirmed yet) having removed fuse 64 (labelled Lights Switch) 7.5a, there was a HUGE drop in drainage 2.5a to .1a!! (Light Switch was already in off possition)
I do not like leaving the car on charge overnight....but after charging from 4V to 12v yesterday, at night I took the charger off and the volts dropped to 11.97 and steadded out...(I think this is just becuase it had not been on charge fully)
Anyway just checked this AM and still 11.97v on the battery so does appear to be the Lights Switch circuit, but as it seems intermitttant can't be 100%
So what could be causing this....does it realy mean the actual Light Switch itself? Whats wierd is everything works when the car is running or charged.....its starting to do my head in a bit now LOL :)

2.5 amps is 30 watts. This isn’t a small bulb staying on, nor is it your switch or anything like that as you would see what was causing the drain.
What else does the fuse protect?

Talk about me and bad luck!! (health issues too...)
History...
Fitted BOTH new batteries about 3 months ago now as car gets little use and if it was left more than a week gave the "low battery multimedia functions disabled" warning...but always started no problem even then and then everything would spring to life after a few mins driving.
Fitted the New batteries (following the recommend way) and its same but now only after two weeks stood which I believe can be normal....?

Anyway, some may know I had the idler pulley disintegrate on me which destroyed the 6 rib belt....it now has new billet pulley from USA and new belts...fitted this Tuesday (3 days ago).
It would not start after as I had to drive it home without the belt few days before...followed charge instructions which stated to connect a battery charger to the Front Aux Bat positive and chassis earth for negative...this did not seem to charge the car up at all tho???
So popped and stripped the boot out and using JUMP Leads jump started from my other car via the main battery in the boot with no problems. Left it running 15 Mins...checked electrical all fine..i.e. window auto up and down etc so had not lost setting so no reprogram needed. After the 15 Mins I turned off and it started again fine on its own....
Come to pull it out this Morn and its completely dead!!!!
Now this is were it gets interesting!!!
I've only had the car 6 months and It only came with one key! I have always had the plan to get another...but winter and lack of using it mean its not yet happened! (which is a real shame now)
Come to use the BLADE to open the car and it only has a god dam blank in it!!!!
Who in their right mind would get a new key and not have the blade cut?
Anyway I am where I am...(which is slightly stressed to say the least)
Local trusted car Locksmiths on route as I type....but...
While waiting I replaced the already new-ish key fob battery as bought a few Duracell ones...but no joy car still dead. Go back to the garage to make more room for the Locksmith to work and the car is open??????? What the?? It did this itself?
Pop the bonnet and stick the charger on the aux bat same as above but the car is still completely dead...like nadda with the charger on????
Charger now says fully charged but car still dead and can not get into the boot via key button, door switch dead and obviously the blade key until I HOPE the locksmith can cut my blank.....
So once I can get in the boot (trying to stay possessive)....whats this SAM thing I've read about and could it be the cause of all this? I've check every FUSE I can get too (so not boot ones yet) all ok
It almost seems the Aux battery at front and the one in the boot are not connected....I though they would be?
What do you guys/girls think is going on???

please help before I loose what little hear I have left!!!!
Tough call on finding a blank blade in the key. I have checked both mine ,11 yr old car and one key not original, and thankfully both blades work. Hope you get sorted soon

I remember seeing a post a while back where it was advised to disconnect the power to the front seat motors, there was a thread showing how to change the wiring (this was C class) so the seats 'died' when the ignition was turned off. As it is (I believe) on some older models you can still move the seats with the ignition off because the seats are always 'live' , a simple fault with a seat relay will discharge the battery. 2.5 amps is not a bulb in the bootspace...but could be a seat motor.

ok will check that thanks! But would it only be the seats if run through fuse 64? Will see if the seats are dead then have power when I put the fuse back...

MB need the car, me, reg doc and either passport or Driving License before they will issue a key......however they provided the blade key code...but the locksmith says he will have to use a lock probe that should give him the info to then cut the key as his system only has 4 digit code and MB gave me a 12 digit one! Rock and hard place...He should be here anytime now...
I read that if Charging from a battery charger you can use the Aux bat but not to use the earth on the bat so the charge circuit knows its in charge mode?
But if Jump starting you MUST use the LARGE Main battery as I did in the Boot.....issue is can not get in the boot yet....and why so very very very dead...
Try another dealer - that is dealer policy and not MB .
MB Glasgow just need sight of the V5 and my driving licence ; I’ve ordered keys from them for numerous cars .
MB Edinburgh were the same when I lived over there .
Oh , and if you have the key numbers , there are places on the Internet in Germany who will supply new keys cut to number without any paperwork.

Which is good to know and also a bit worrying at the same time .

OK this looks like the usual SEAT drain....my issue is, anyone done the ignition live Mod to a CLS.....the plugs are differant and tho I can use my meter it would be nice to know what wires are what?
I may even have to run an ignition live to them as so far its seems there is only a Perm Live?
Thanks

OK this is now sorted using an ignition live from Engine bay Fuse box (wiper motor) in line fused to seats....also worth a note that Memory still works fine but obviously now only when the ignition is on!
Also fitted two battery Meters under the hood via a switched earth push button.....shows Valtage of Main Battery in boot and the Aux Battery also using in line fuses for safty!
