Every time I get into my 01 ML270 my trip computer has to be set up.I have checked the manual and think that I am doing it right but the next time I get in it has to be done again. Is there something I'm not doing???Any suggestions would be appreciated

What do you mean by "set up"?

Welcome, btw :)

I'd re-read that bit of the handbook and try again. How long have you had the car, and where did you buy it from?

First Merc, only have it 2 weeks so still trying to figure out how everything works.Bought it in Glasgow. All is well so far.

Ah, OK. I was thinking if you'd bought from a dealer within striking distance you could have dropped by for some advice. Good luck anyway!

I wonder if it is the battery ? If it was low then overnight the settings could be going back to "as fitted", thus the need to reset everything.

Have you tried going for a decent run, say 20 miles and then see if it is better once the battery has charged up. Either that or get the battery drop-tested by a garage to see if it is holding a charge.

What about a fuse? The IC should have both permanent and switched power, I'm just guessing that if the permanent power fuse was blown, the IC would have power only when the ignition is on.

If the battery voltage was dropping enough for the settings to be lost it surely wouldn't have enough power left to start the engine?

The battery if that low would trigger the ESP and ABS often before anything else

I must admit that if the battery was getting that low surely other faults would show up and starting would become difficult to say the least.
