Hi,

I'm in a dilemma between which car I want to buy between these two I've found and I want to make the correct decision as this is the most i've ever spent on a car, hope you can help :)

I found two c220 from two different dealers. One of the C220 is £150 more, has less mileage and is called 'sport' the other is £150 less and is called 'SE' and has a panoramic roof.

First car is £150 more than the other car

This however has the Panoramic Roof, does that mean it's the better model?

Which do you recommend me buy, should I pay the extra £150 or not? Is the cheaper one actually the better car?

Tough one

I had one of these (sport with roof though - evolution Pano model)

I would hold out for one that is also both and post facelift ( so 04 onwards) as they are out there

However, if it must be one of those two, I would recommend the one with the roof as long as it's not scratched, doesn't leak and works fine (and has been greased etc)
You could always change the wheels to pimp up the look if you had to, but the roof really opens up the car when sat inside what is a smallish interior.

That said, they are 12 year old cars, so condition, service history and interior colour is as important as a major bill won't be economic on either

Both have leather?

Yes both have leather.

I didn't understand what you said. Did you say that I should look for a facelift model instead? are these not the facelift models? both have the circular odometer car instead of the big semi circle and both are post 2004 (05 and 04 reg).

Do you think I should go with the purchase...this is a car that has to serve me 3 years at least...or should I get a higher mileage diesel audi a3 tdi/bmw 120d or even golf tdi....i was also thinking of a 2007 honda civic 2.2 diesel...but as i am posting on a mercedes forum im really unsure D:

These are both facelift, so better interior (my comment was relevant if you were going to look at others only)

Either should do you well over a decent period.
If serviced on time, this engine is pretty much bullet proof and the car itself, well proven

Just check that major components are still working well (gearbox, suspension and the electrics)
It would also be worth looking at the MOT history as a number of advisories on either may sway you

That said, if you can find an 07 civic diesel in good nick for the same money, (and don't mind the 'drop' in badge) I know a couple of those that have been faultless for their owners

Good luck

The SE will have the more sumptuous ride, while the Sport will have a more rigid ride. You need to experience both rides to really understand the difference.

My current CLS has the sport suspension so is quite bumpy over the ruts in the road, whereas the last CLS was was lent was an SE and road over the ruts as if they weren't even there.

It's all down to how you want to drive the car.
