Help your M157 live longer

I really like Kenny and the dedicated videos based E63 M157. Will watch this later this evening in detail. Worth reading content 👌 👍🙂
If I had a M157 I would definitely do this mod 👍🏼

The AMG specialist Tasos also recommends this video that has to be worth something

Interesting....and such a simple mod. It looks like a "no brainer" as the yoof say!
I would call a no brainer better oil pressure at lower rpm for a couple of mpg trade off

I wonder if this is also true of the M278 engine as they are quite similar? Anyone know??

I done this recently on my S63 m157 and I told my friend about it and he owns a cls63amg. He done the same thing also and he said he noticed a difference straight away.
My S63 is sorned until summer time so I won’t know the difference until then but I think anyone with a m157 should do this

Can I ask what difference he noticed?

I have taken screenshot photos from Kenny's youtube video. Hopefully should help anyone wanting to do this change.

I could be mistaken but I think we may have a member here whose M157 had packed up due to this exact failure and the engine had to be rebuild. I'm sure I've read something about the rebuild somewhere here?

I'll update everyone when I've unplug mine, looks like a doddle👍

👍🏼 even if you don’t feel a difference, I would still disconnect that solenoid and have good oil pressure from idle.

I would like to know though if you actually feel a difference? Or if you can hear any difference (like quieter engine at idle)

Thanks, pictures saved! Still interested in what the driving difference is so please let me know if you do the mod, Cheers!

Can I ask what difference he noticed?

He noticed the engine was quieter, more responsive and the gear changes seem smoother
I started the car up on mine and the engine does seem quieter too but like I said, driving wise I can’t comment yet

Thanks for the reply.

Hey guys, a little video for anyone that has the M157 engine. Quite interesting

One of the US Youtubers who really knows his M157.
Always enjoy his content both in video and his posts on MB World.

Might try this on mine, my only concern is
Is there a possibility the solenoid may stay in close position once you unplug it ?

Well I've found the plug on my engine and it's very easily accessible on the R231 as there is so much space in the engine bay. I'm hesitating though as there doesn't seem to be much info on the web about this and I'd have thought that if it was such a good mod there would be more people doing it. Any of the indy mechanics like to comment about it's validity?
