I have just bought a Y reg C class. Only had it for 3 weeks. It has the COMAND system. Now the radio doesn't work. The stations still show but all I get is static. The CD and Navigation work fine. Also my Central locking is playing up. Is this related or am I just unlucky.

How is it playing up? are the locks bouncing up and down or are they not working at all.
As for your radio, alfie may be able to sort that out soon as soon as he sees this.

welcome to the forum by the way

I've changed the batteries in the key and it sort of works the central locking. I have to stand practically on the door for the central locking to work. Just checked the radio again i can get 98.8 (just) but everything else is just white noise.

Nope just the one. The unchanged key does nothing will change the batteries on them later.

Sounds like an unplugged aerial lead thru the loom somewhere, behind radio, under aerial??

Is it the same with locking doors with the remote when pointing to the IR receiver at the door? It could be the antenna amp, not sure about this car if the remote RF antenna and radio both use the rear window antenna.

Just had the central locking and radio fixed. Total cost £220.46. Had to pay as it was not covered by Warranty Direct. My ESP warning message keeps coming up and this is due to a faulty lateral sensor. Guess what this is not covered by my warranty either. Spoke to WD today to check reason for non payment by them and I was told that I don't have a merc specific policy. Nope they don't do one either. Also told that the older the car gets the less i am covered for. So when I really need the cover I get nothing. People check your policies. Needless to say its so long Warranty Direct.
