You'll need someone with Genuine MB STAR for coding. I don't think you can code MB cars with Launch diagnostic scanners (unike BMW and some other marques). Is there an independent MB specialist near you?

Where did you get the new module from ? It's strange that it is 'Taught in' - unless the diagnostics you are using can do that (but not do the drive authorisation process) - looks like a used one to me.

If it was not a new one, but a used one, you need to get it virginised - which I am not sure is possible for W177 cluster controllers - and then paired to the car, coded etc etc

ITs a used module i bought off ebay

It won't work. They are part of the anti-theft system, I checked the tools that can "virginise' instrument clusters and it doesn't do that latest generation Instrument Cluster controller so no one knows how to revert them to factory.

is there no way to code this then or is there a way to repair the old flooded one, dealers want £1500 + vat for a new one i dont really want to be going down that route

There is no way to code a used one. Its part of the car's anti-theft and mileage display system so secure.

And electronics and water does not mix so unless you are very lucky and can find someone to clean up the old unit it won't work and probably will fail again even if cleaned. You also can't just plug in a brand new one and have it work correctly, you have to go through the Initial Startup process with online Xentry to lock it to the car and code it for the car's options.

Theres also a load of wiring ducts with connectors in them under the floor, and you need to clean / replace / repair those, much of that will stop a car starting too.

Sorry to only bring bad news

What caused the water ingress?
