I have been getting a little problem recently with the C230.

It hickups at idle, backfires when you go from crusing for a while to fast - but generally, kickdown works quickly and smoothly.

Can t work out if its is a loose air filter, or something much worse - I am stil suffering from an £800 service I got 2000 miles ago which included a new air sensor

From previous cars, I think it might even be water in the fuel!

Im wondering if it is a common problem.

Any help would be appriciated.

thanks

Oli

Could be MAF.

Search under MAF - if so, you can find them on ebay at very good prices or have it diagnosed as an problem associated with the MAF will throw up a fault code.

Sounds like an air leak to the inlet manifold.
Check all the vacuum lines carefully.

I couldnt inagine it would be thew MAF - there is no way it could die in just 2000 miles? - or could there?

The inlet air leak sounds feasable - with the problem being slightly irregular, should I be looking for tired pipes, cracked etc - or could it be a pipe that isnt in place?

thanks for your help - :)
