Hi all,
I've just joined: bit late, as I'm now on my 3rd Merc! I've always loved Mercedes cars and in my distant youth, what I dreamt of was owning an R107 SL.
Then more recently, I saw myself driving an R230 SL, then a C215 CL..... but ended up with a 1996 S210 7-seater E-.Class Estate: lots of children to ferry around!
Owned the E-Class (4 cyl. E.230) for about 8 years. A great, versatile, slightly under-powered 'load-lugger', but let down by the dreaded, very common corrosion around the wheel arches. Engine / drive trian was still going strong when I sold it on about 165k mikes.
Graduated to a 2003 W220 S.350L which I had for another 7 or 8 years. Sold it on about 104k miles / 16 years old and without ANY rust!
I'm now the very happy owner of an Obsidian Black, 2007 W221 S.500L.... it's fantastic, except for the cliché 'nobody told me how hard it is to keep a black car clean'
