How can you tell if an AMG car has been heavily modified ?

The C63 M156 is relatively unique in how it was held back through a throttle restriction to make around 50-60hp less than the engine does in other OEM applications. Therefore, a simple remap is only unleashing the natural potential of the engine.

Having had mine both standard and remapped it's also not just about power, but how it drives. Standard the last 2.5krpm feels a bit flat, because it is as you hit the power plateau. Remapped there is a real zing to the redline that is much more exciting to experience and how an NA engine usually works.
And you could make similar arguments for other AMG engines that have widely varying power outputs dependent on model. M157, M177 for example. Obviously different being forced induction.

Most stated AMG figures are abit tame especially the M156,my PPP car wasn't 487bhp and it was totally standard and after talking to Acid at MSL he basically confirmed that most are over 500 bhp which makes a stage 1 remap pointless 😁

Hi , No doubt as other members have read that the days of modified and tuned cars could be numbered.
I thought you bu**ered off coz we were boring?!

Perhaps I missed your announcement of your return....? I assume you felt felt the need to announce it, like you "departure"?

Test drive a few across a range of sellers. A bit cheeky for the first or second one you drive, but you'll soon get a feel for the car after a few test drives. Eye ball the car and it's engine bay and decide if you think the car is stock or modded before the test drive.

Hopefully the first one you test drove is still for sale and you go back and buy it.
