Hi all,

I've been cleaning the inside of my new 230e over the past 2 days and decided to finish it off, by spot cleaning 2 small brown stains on the grey parcel shelf.

After some simple foaming cleaner, I thought the job would be done, but no, the brown stain seems to be throughout the shelf and must have soaked deeper into the carpet. 2 hours later, I now have a faint brown stain all over the shelf and that was after 2 buckets of brown stained water! I have no idea what was once soaked in !

I managed to get the first aid cover off and the stain simple washed away in the shower, so I attempted to take the parcel shelf off.

I took the rear interior seat belt trim off, removed the rear seat, took the speaker covers off, but how do I get the headrests off?

I'm a bit concerned that unnecessary wiggling will damage the automatic vacuum mechanism. I assume that there is a way of doing this.

Any help / pictures would be greatfully received.

Take the trims off from around the headrest posts, that reveals two small levers on each side, press those down and that releases the headrests.

You may need to do one side at a time of each headrest.

Can be a bit tedious, I usually put the rear window through to make it quicker, but I don't advise that in your case...

Thanks Nick.

I assume that the parcel shelf will then lift out, once I've removed the seat belt trim and speaker grills?

I want to wash down the parcel shelf, as I feel this is the only way to get the damn stain out. It's worked with the first aid kit cover.

Yes it will just lift out once the headrests are out of the way.

Can you tell me how you got the first aid cover off the shelf? I've managed to remove my parcel shelf for re-covering, but I can't work out how to remove the cover?!
