I have just recovered my SL from a dead rear battery by taking it out and charging it.

Now the ABC suspension is out of wack with each corner of the car at a different height!

Is there a way to reset the ABC without a Star machine, or I had heard that just driving the car can let it resolve itself?

Obviously a Star machine is easy but unless you know of one in or around London that's free for a hour tomorrow, I don't have the time before a planned drive on Thursday afternoon :-(

On a related note. If this is what happens to the ABC after a flat battery I would like to be able to fix it myself if possible? Is there a handheld diagnostic tool that not only reads but allows you to reset the ABC?

Many thanks

Robert

I presume you have pressed the ABC raise button twice to try and max its ride height and then a short while later a third time to drop it back down?

Yes, I,ve had the car up and down a lot. Also a 30 minute drive, but its still out of wack

Cheers

Did you try disconnecting the battery for 5 mins and reconnecting? Maybe the low voltage confused it and it needs a reboot?

I've never seen that happen after a flat battery... I'd get it scanned on star ASAP!

As m2287 more or less said I think you have a more serious issue. I have disconnected my battery several times and never had an issue with the ABC because of it.

A flay battery should not affect ABC at all.

Iv had a flat battery for over a week in freezing weather and nothing happened to the ABC, it stayed perfectly still and worked perfectly fine when the car was finally started again.

Id be looking at the height control modules in each corner to see if one has a broken arm, as that will send it into a headlong lean.

Thanks for your advice guys.

I too have had a flat rear battery before and it did not affect the ABC.

This time round it’s got me scratching my head.

I take on board your comments regarding something being wrong, like a sensor or arm, etc.

I think I'll book the car in to PCS and have it looked at.

Cheers :-)

God Robert you are not having a lot of luck with the SL, I'm sure Olly ill be able to sort it out. Good luck.

I'm sure it could be just a glitch.

Yes, I was thinking the same thing! But I am getting to the bottom of the gearbox problem. Watch this space.....

On a happier note my GP recently told me I needed to get more Cardiovascular exercise.

I promptly explained that I hadn't bothered joining a gym, because when I got in my car and floored the accelerator my heart beat doubled.

THAT was my Cardiovascular exercise.
She didn't reply!

Cheers,
Robert :D

Have you tried turning the steering from lock to lock 4 or 5 times?
