Hi all. 62 reg c220 sport plus 12500 miles not raced just driven normally, no thrashing about and the rears are down to just over 3mm, is this about right. I easily got 20k out of my BMW rears (318i auto 52 reg).
Will be changing soon before the snow:eek:

Hello Eddie, I changed my rears on an E320 Sport at 18K with 3mm left (Sport Contact 3's).
12.5K doesn't seem like a lot :dk:.

Depends on the tyre compound, the better the grip, the softer the rubber, so on my old Conti's I got about 12k, I have since changed those for a set of Michelins,
but they seem to be about the same, which is a pain as they were more expensive.

Ive a c200cdi, 26000 miles, rears down to 3mm. 12500 seems disappointing unless the lower profile tyres wear sooner. Im on the original michelins.

I got 19000 out of the rear Michelin Pilot Sport 3s, the fronts still have 4-5mm

11k out of my rears, changed at 3mm Pirelli Pzero. Fronts still on and at 6mm.

TBH if the wear is even then that's what it is for your car with your tyres and your driving. I used to do massive motorway miles and tyres lasted ages but my current commute is a short drag strip and I've been getting 8k out of my rears:). Been enjoying though:)

As others said... it can vary considerably.

It's a bit like asking how long do brake discs last, or how long does a clutch last... the answer is anything from 5k miles to 50k miles :)

It depends on: the make and model of the tyre, the type of car, the type of road driven on, the ambient temperature, the tyre pressures, the driving style, etc etc....

Hi,
I have a 2012 C220 and just changed the original rear tyres back in October. They had around 20,000 miles on them. At the point of changing they were still legal but getting borderline in places.

Just measured them with a digital Vernier caliper, 4.4mm -4.6mm so better than I thought, will keep a close eye on them, thanks for the replies.
Eddie

12.5k seems low. In the 2 years from new, I've done nearly 40k on the original conti winter tyres and am just getting close to having to replace them (3mm on rears about 3 weeks ago).

12k seems fairly low but there are a lot of factors to take into account. Given your measurements you're only 50% down so prognosis isn't that bad!

You never know, you might reach 20k if you ease off! :bannana:

26k in my smart...still about 4mm left front and rear.

I get less than half that in the SL.
