how much would you pay for this?

One something of that caliber of value, anything as long as it's at least £400 less than the cost new.

that auction looks very suspicious :)

new ebayer
no proper photographs
reserve set at £1500 yet they sell for £1400
wheels were only on the car for a week (or maybe two if you read the questions) but the tyres have been used for a month

I wouldn't have bid on that one :)

If they were genuinely just bought from a stealership then he made a loss of over a grand selling those things. Whitefield were "desperate" to get rid of some 7.5x17" AMG styling IIs a while ago and the best price they could do was about £2k. So much cheaper from any other wheel/tyre shop.

Probably stolen!

he says he has the receipt from MB Park Royal where he bought it

am I right in thinking that W209 CLK 18" AMG alloys will fit my W208 CLK?

would I need new bolts?

yeah, but I bet it isn't his receipt - probably the customers who he nicked the wheels off

I note you live in London so are not to far away from the wheels. If you like them why not check the wheels and the seller out. He has the receipts, and they certainly look nice.

What have you to loose providing you do not part with any money.

If you check the receipt and are still suspicous, but want them, check with your local Police.

Good luck,
John

There are some scum bags, cheats and theives about for sure, but also plenty of people with generally more money than sense, especially in London. Go check them out.

that's my plan .. if he gets back to me

well, another eBay fraud attempt ..

The "Second Chance Offer" (i.e. seller offering you the chance to buy as the highest bidder hasn't completed) turned out to be fake .. I got 2 SCOs from 2 different people, neither of whom was the original seller (I managed to retrieve his e-mail address from a question I had asked earlier).

It's always suspect when the seller wants to deal through eBay for his and for your 'protection'. Incredibly, the 'seller' had moved from Middlesex to Cornwall in the space of a week.

The final bid was £1420, so it wasn't that cheap at all.
