I am having my AMG wheels refurbished in the next couple of weeks but the wheel nuts are chrome but rusty / corroded, whats the best way to return them to original condition?

You could possibly get them refurbished or replated, but might not be any cheaper than a new set? The people doing your wheels might be able to advise?

I bought a set of these for the SLK, so far they have not rusted (in 2 years and still counting!).

Another way was recommended years ago by Television (RIP), namely to wire brush the visible bits, put the bolts thread down through a box so just the visible bits are visible, then spray with correct colour Hammerite rattle can.

Done the hammerite thing a number of times , unfortunately no coat of paint can withstand 100Nm + of action from a metal socket and pretty soon you are back to square one . I have even touched them up (as best I can) while on the car.

I have reverted to plastic cover caps (not a great fan ) but they look fine ......just don't lose the little plastic 'tool' you get with them , bugger to get them off without it , depending on wheel design .

It can be tricky to match the silver/grey with plastic caps , but it's usually close enough.

20 bolts for £30 is cheap , it says 'Alloy' they are not aluminium then ? You have had them on for two years , how many time have you had them on and off in that 2 years. Genuinely curios as to the quality of theses bolts .

They've been on and off a couple of times, but the car is mainly a garage queen - although in that time she has been out in the wet a few times!

Buy a set of black ones. ?
