I bought a new PC recently and I use Thunderbird for my email via Virgin.

I have the Thunderbird account set up and working.

It seems I also have a Googlemail account using the same log-in and mail server. There is a Googlemail tab in the T-bird main account inbox

It is duplicating everything Thunderbird downloads (and loads of spam)

Any idea how I remove Googlemail please?

I can't see the program when I go to delete programs in Control Panel.

Many thanks

Try this in Thunderbird:

Tools>Account Settings. Select the account you want to remove and click on the Remove Account button at the bottom of the window.

I don't have a gmail account

Yes, you do! Googlemail and gmail are exactly the same thing.

For a time, Google had to use "Googlemail" for the UK and one other country because gmail had already been registered there. Google have now come to an agreement with the previous holders of gmail so that the whole world now uses "@gmail.com".

Sorry chaps

Just ran all the email adresses from our blueyonder.co.uk list and none of them are recognised on gmail

I'm stumped.
