Guys have been advised i need to replace the upstream oxygen sensor, any ideas on how to? Where abouts is it, and what else do i need to remove in prep for it? Any hints/tips gladly appreciated.

Apparently this could be causing the misfire on my car when its idling.....

It's probably the "fore" of the 2 fore and aft lambda sensors associated with your catalytic converter. Their position and access varies from car to car and some require a special wrench to remove them without damaging the associated wiring. Since you don't say what model of car you have its difficult to give any more info.

its much easier to access from under the car and will most likely come off with a ring spanner.

is this the upstream one Jay? i thought its more into the engine bay?

You might need one of these or something similar a 2mmx150mm open socket. LaserTools 4701 - Lambda Sensor Socket
Sometimes they come out easily sometimes not. People have been known to use a suitably applied blow torch to slacken the threads of the old one. Don't apply torque while the exhaust/ cat is very hot or you may strip the female threads!

ps don't overdo the new sensor antiseize compound-you don't want it contaminating that new sensor!

Getting some penetrant releasant on prior to attempting removal will help. An overnight soak if possible.

where is the Lambda usually located on the 124
