…so here is an update

1. Sold my wife’s new C-Class after only 6 months. Was not a happy experience due to the iffy panel fit, poor paint finish and rattling trim.
2. My W211 E55 went back to the leasing company. Sad. Very sad. But at least I will not have to worry about finding it vandalised when I come out of Tesco’s.
3. I have bought, believe it or not, a 1984 W123 280TE. Have been restoring it for the past year or so. I now have bare bodyshell sitting in my garage. Not sure why I did it but it is great fun to tinker with at the weekend.

But here is my technical question:

My neighbour has a W203 C180K, 2003 with 16,000 miles and full MB service history. She has had several ‘quality’ issues with the car (I did warn her..). But recently the car has started blowing plumes of black smoke from the exhaust when starting/driving from cold. And I mean big plumes—looks like an old diesel! No apparent engine problem; no heavy oil use. Car is booked into the stealership under warranty..but any thoughts of what’s wrong?

A long , long time ago, i can still remember my dads w123 280te... it was dark blue, with a dark blue cloth interior....

What a rocking car  and they have that 'old skool cool' about them still.......

Good luck with the restoration.... i'd love to see some piccys.... :D
