Mercedes C class 2010
hello, I have a mercedes c class 2010 and I want to change its tires, but I have 16in rims, in the form it says that I am only allowed 205/55/16 or 225/50/16, but none of them are very economical, I was thinking 205 /60/16 will be ok? or should I buy 17 rims?IMG_9949.jpeg

I'm no tyre expert but there doesn't seem to be a huge difference between 205/55/16 & 205/60/16.

Someone who actually knows what they are talking about will soon be along to inform us I'm sure.

A 205/60/16 is not more economical than the 205/55/16 it just has a deeper sidewall ?

Maybe he means the tyres available in that size all have a poor echo rating compared to the slightly bigger size?

Or maybe an availability/cost issue?
Anyway, the 205/60 adds 20mm to the diameter which is a 3% increase. If the electronics are OK with it, I cannot see a problem (accepting that the speedo will under-read by 3% and if going this route, all four tyres are changed). For reference, the difference in diameter between a new (8mm tread) and a worn one (1.6mm) is 1%.

It will probably be LESS economical as the 60 profile will be heavier. To make it use less juice the OP wants to be reducing unsprung weight....not increasing it.
