Mercedes Benz ML 270 CDI Auto 2002
Hi
I have a Mercedes ML 270 cdi Auto (w163) 2002 model
I was looking at a scanner/code reader for my vehicle, it has to be within my budget, it has to be easy to understand and operate.....I know that the STAR is the holy grail of Mercedes, but not only is it very expensive, but is also very technical and one needs training to operate it.
I was looking at the "iCarsoft MBII OBDII Pro Multi-System Scanner Tool"
somewhere in the description it states that this covers all model 2014> onward, and "MOST" models 1996> onward....what i am worried about was, as my car is a 2002 model..... will my vehicle be covered by this machine or not?
I have tried finding out from sellers but they dont know the tech side....also how would one know that this scanner is genuine and not a copy !
I wonder if any of you have used one, if so,,,,what are the good points and what are the BAD points,,,,
all or any info would be immensely helpful :)

if you contact icarsoft with your vin , after a day or 2 you'll get a reply iCarsoft MB II for Mercedes-Benz / Sprinter / Smart_Benz Scan Tools
. i bought mine off ebay for £136 and you register the seriel number with icarsoft so you can download the latest updates to it . not genuine id think the seriel number wont be recognised. ive used mine a few times now and its saved me in excess of £240 if id gone to a mb dealer . its also a generic code reader for any car with an obd2 socket. BUY IT !!
OBD2 iCarsoft MB II SMART MERCEDES BENZ SPRINTER Diagnostic Tool SRS ABS ENGINE | eBay

got mine from these guys.. iCarsoft MB II MERCEDES BENZ / SPRINTER / Smart Diagnostic Tool SRS ABS ENGINE | eBay

for a 2002 model the i980 would be a good tool , but for an extra 25 £ the mb2 will be the better buy for future use.

I use the Icarsoft MBII as well, it can read more control units than a generic OBD II scanner but it does say in the documentation that it's for cars post 2006. I think if your car requires the extra cable then it's not the scanner for you.

my mb2 states 163.113 for the ml270 cdi . check your code on your v5.

I have the MB11, my car is 2003 ML270.
When turning on scanner it asks what car you have, select W163, it will then ask petrol or diesel, after which it will ask 270 or other.
It works fine with my car, it's a bit iffy on ABS system, but gets there.
It also successfully worked on our Mini cooper, and daughter's Toyota Aygo.
For the money I have no complaints.

I believe link at bottom is for genuine carsoft that works on early models... when I messaged them about my 1999 sprinter 312d with 14 pin round socket I had phone call back saying yes good for ... has backup .. 24 month warranty ... does require an xp laptop with serial port though... suggest messaging them

this is original item I think and costs 2x clone price. clone comes with less backup and warranty

Just a thought , i bought the MB11 for my CLS and it is very user friendly.

My son has a Clio and i have just bought the i907 Carsoft to diagnose an airbag fault , which it did without any problem.

So , if i had thought when i got the MB one then i would have just spent the extra £40 for the iCarsoft CR+ which covers almost all manufacturers , so if you have more than one car that you are possibly working on then it would make sense.

On a plus point , they always sell well second hand so will get at least 60% - 70% back when ,if, you sell it on.

The MB2 has ob2 as well, I have used it on our Mini cooper and daughter's Toyota Aygo with success.

Is the icarsoft mb v50 genuine I only see a couple of these but plenty of the MB v2
Trying to find what scanner best for a 2009 R230 with vario roof that can read roof sensors
