C270 cdi
Bought my c270 a few months ago, and was hoking around in the boot and came across the following part.

I know that the part is located on the front right of he engine, but what is it?

Thanks

Oh no... that's the upper thrummulator!!

Flux capacitor ?

Continuum transfunctioner ?

Right?

Thanks for that.

The glow plug light on my car stays on for quite a while after the car starts, so I assume the previous owner tried a replacement part at some stage thinking there was a fault with it.

Is it really that unadvisable to attempt to change the glow plugs in the cdi engines?

Thanks for that link, it is very informative !

I have split the control unit and indeed there is a blown terminal. I will get some fuse wire tomorrow and see if I can repair it

It's a glow plug control relay mate. It's used to preheat them and switch them off on start up,so if you are having glow plug light issues staying on after startup then now you know why.? I'm surprised your car still starts without one of those plugged in

It's a spare one lol

The previous owner must have bought it totry to cure the coil light issue.

Took the relay apart and sure enough there was a broken terminal, but after repairing it, and trying it, the light still stayed on.

Anyway, while fitting a thermostat, and after removing the engine cover, I thought I would have a quick nosey at the plugs to see if I could ascertain the faulty one(s).

Was a bit disappointed to see this

This is the plug nearest the bulkhead, and the top of it is missing.

However I was hoping someone could tell me of the nut at the base of it is part of the plug or not, and if so, would it be worth trying to get it out.

In this pic, you might be able to make out the plug beside it which has an additional cap, which doesn't appear to have enough wire to stretch over to the snapped plug.

Hi E270 owner,

I have already repaired the relay, it now appears the previous owner has broken off one of the glow plugs in the head.

Havent had the car long, and after finding all of the faults so far, today I had the front wheel off and discovered 3 welds on the alloy.....

I'm almost afraid to keep looking.......
