Car
R172 SLK55 AMG
I've seen these on other models, but does anyone know the part no. / price for the SLK (R170) fitment?

Are you sure you want to know how expensive they are?

Good for an extra 5mph though ;).

There is a company in the states that trades on Ebay , user ID : carpartsdiscount .....

I got my illuminated sills from there, (not OEM but very good none the less) landed in UK for £90 for the pair ....they do 'AMG' and 'Mercedes Benz'... they don't have any listed at the moment, but you could drop them a line ...

OEM AMG ones are second mortgage jobs ...

A pal of mine had a set fitted to his CL65 ( admittedly supplied and fitted by the stealer) and they were nigh on a grand (including labour though) ....

There are also here complete with installation instructions.

Hi.
I did think about getting these, then I thought about under sill neons and vauxhall corsas etc and decided against it.
;)
Personally they are not really my cup of tea at the end of the day....
Mind you, having now seen what they would have cost and also reading somewhere previously about how prone they are to breaking, I am glad I didn't.
Later.
:)

They don't illuminate under the car , they shine upwards and are only visible when the door is open ( and the courtesy light is activated ) .....

No problems with mine , i guess it depends on how good a job you do wiring them in , and then looking after them ...

If you care for the car, there shouldn't be any problem with the illumination.

Problems happen when water gets into the ballasts (blocked drains etc) , but the EL technology is fairly robust otherwise .....

As posted elsewhere , you could get a set for an r170 for about a ton ....

Yer - they are quite a bit more discreet than under car lighting! The last time I looked Mercedes, AMG etc were not offering that as an option ;)

You can however choose to equipe your 100K car with illuminated sills from the accessories catalogue....so that it looks like a poor man's Corsa maybe!

One man's meat and all that.

Lol, yeah, I know that, I was referring to the general 'blingyness' of lighting various parts of the car.
I like my brushed/polished standard sills. :)
Later.
