Hi Guys,

I have a problem with my CLK's (2001) instrument cluster. Where it should show the temperate, the symbols are all garbled. I am assuming the LEDs are going. It has also started to happen on the right hand window (when i change gears the symbols are incomplete)

Is there any way to fix this or do i need a new instrument cluster? If i need a new one, is there a place where i can get them cheap? Dont really want to get them from MB if i can avoid it.

thanks

I've had mine to bits once and need to again to refresh my memory.

I have the same problem with the gear selector display on the right hand side - there's an area 3 x 2 pixels in size that doesn't always work and at the time I couldn't see a solution.

I've just recently solved an identical problem on the display of an old Vauxhall Omega using a soldering iron and some patience (no solder required!) and need to see if this would be a suitable method for the MB cluster.

I'll let you know when I get chance to look at it again.

Ian.

I would try German Ebay for clusters. You will get one with a KMPH card in. This can be easily changed from your one. Unless you get a cluster from the same spec car you will need to get MB to reprogramme it. But it may be worth trying it first, as you can't do any damage. I have some cluster removal tools which I bought for £15, if you want them you can have them for the same price as I no longer need them.

If you are local I can change over the cards for you.
