XC60 MY2014 SeLux Nav plus lot and lots of toys...
I have been trawling the internet but the best I can find is DIAMOND. £828...fully comp for a 2003 group 2 car (17 yr provisional driver)+2 adults...

Anyone got any better ideas

Thanks

Hello,

Buy a copy or Max Power (1) for a laugh (2) lots of adverts at the back for specilist companies for younger drivers.

Adrian Flux and Ednsliegh use to be good ?

I'm always amazed at the ages of some of the people and the cars they have converted in that magazine...always good for a laugh but may well have some useful info regarding insurance.

Insurance is a tough one for a young 'un. @22 years old I was £1800/year for my 4.4i X5. Even with the E class I am c. £1000/annum and I've never had a prang.

Whats the car you are trying to insure. For me Admiral was by FAR the cheapest.

Try moneysupermarket.com or confused.com and punt in your details.

Thought I found the bargain -- Admiral -- but then realised they had quoted me for a ............................wait for it......................10 month bonus booster........so when extrapolated and run over 12 -- not such a bargain....hmmm..clever or crafty ?

Crafty as the 1yr no claims it 'boosts' will only be honoured by them!

I'd suggest swiftcover if it's not the 17yr old as main driver, they will cover younger as named driver but no under 21 as policy holder.

Adrian Flux is always worth a shout for any form of insurance. In my experience they come across as a totally disorganisied company when it comes to any sort of paperwork but they fairly frequently throw in a ridiculously low quote from left field compared to many others.

Norwich Union were good for me at the beginning, as were Tesco. :)

Also came down alot after I did my PassPlus.

I found Shiela's blimmin' wheels couldn't quote me for a car I was already insured on-duh-how rubbish is that?

swift cover online insurance for me was cheap £330 fully comp at 25 years old with 8 points on my licence on an E220 COUPE

i have just done the trawl for my 17 year old daughter (2007 Pug 107).

Cheapest by far is Admiral (there is a button to change the 10 month "bonus builder" to a standard 12 month quote).

I am moving my own cover over as well as the premium is £107 less than my current More Than and lower excesses.

The main lesson I have learned is that loyalty gets you shafted.....

Did you try Diamond ?

I just had my 20 year old cousin up to visit. He is @ uni but is graduating soon and will have his 1st job in 6 months.

He has been driving since 17 and uses his Parents Megane for wheels. He expects to get a (relatively) well paid job and will be living with his MUm & Dad. Okay, so he'll have a bit of cash for a nice motor, but the insurance for a 325i BMW was nearly 2 grand. Steep or what?

When I first got the W202 my quotes ranged from £1500 to £4500 (and it was worth roughly that!)

I'm now paying £600 a year (22yo, 1 accident 2 years ago where fault has not yet been decided, thank you very much direct-line!)

I found that loyalty to an insurer is the easiest way to get an expensive insurance policy; I change every year by searching on the popular price-comparison sites (gocompare, moneysupermarket, etc)

Found Tesco the cheapest when my son was learning. Tried the specialist sites but they all turned out more expensive.

When I first insured my previous C230k it was £1700 with £1000 excess. With the normal excess it was a LOT more.

£1000 excess kept the premiums down until a year ago when a change of address, age hitting 30 etc meant the inurance fell to more like £350 with an excess of £150 :)

I can guarantee that a £1000 voluntary excess will help sharpen the focus when driving.

I have used a web site called Quidco for my insurances (car, home etc) costs £5 p.a. to join deducted from your first transaction. All monies paid back is transferred directly into your bank a/c.

I have insured my E320 cdi for £200 fully comp protected £200 excess with priveledge, my renewal premium came through as £270 and the deal through Quidco gave me £70 back for exactly the same insurance cover at the time.
Offers fluctuate but if the offer fits your needs at the time you are in luck.

I insured my Astra diesel workhorse estate and got a whopping £120 back and 1 years free breakdown cover thrown in for free from Prudential, it was to cheap an offer to miss.
Lots of my friends have subscribed and saved money on a variety of things from RAC membership to car rental abroad. Hope this helps good luck and happy motoring.
