So, five MAFs later i have a MAF that does seem to work and not throw EML into action. I now have a car that has intermittent hesitation though. On a very light or trailing throttle when the car is warm it starts to judder/hesitate. It sounds crazy but what seems to set it off is going up a hill. Once you get onto the level at the other side it starts doing its trick of misfiring. I cant guarantee it but fiddling with the eco button seems to stop it happening. More testing of that theory needed. But the hill part has happened enough to make that a baked-in part of the mystery. Only at dual carriageway speeds, not in a a road or town driving (mot perceptibly anyway - i thought i could feel it this afternoon but it could have been poor road surface etc) Garage has xentry and the car shows no fault codes. Other than this car performs as usual. 37 mpg on my 70 test rin today so fuel economy is good, performance generally unaffected. W222 s350cdi. That i am starting to hate. Any pointers much appreciated. Garage are happy to come out with me but i want to be sure i can replicate the problem first, hence the test drives.
