Since installing IE7, I often get the following:

Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage

Most likely causes:
You are not connected to the Internet.
The website is encountering problems.
There might be a typing error in the address.

What you can try:
Diagnose Connection Problems

More information

This occurs on webpages that have previously worked when I used IE6, no problem. I have also noticed that if I recieve an email with a url link, which I would normally just click on and it would open an IE window, it no longer does this. Any ideas oh clever people?

7 is crap, full of glitches! ADD/REMOVE get rid of it and it should refer to IE6 again.

Are you conncted though. For example, if you type an address into the address bar, do you still get to a website?

I'm assuming you're using webmail through the browser rather than Outlook or some other email client?

When you move the mouse pointer over the link does it switch from "I" to a pointed finger?

If it's a finger, when you click on the link does a message appear beneath the address bar?

A quick thought - try holding down the [Ctrl] key when you click on the link to see if it overides a pop-upblocker. If not, try holding [Shift] key when you click on the link which should force a new window to open.

Hope this helps. Let us know how you get on.

Yes, I want IE6 back again, but 1/my system restore won't go back far enough and 2/ on the Microsoft website I can only find IE6 for SP1, but Im using SP2. What's my next step?

Thank you

TRY USING FIREFOX 2 really much simpler . 6 Mbyte download, easy install ,easy migrate of your favorites, etc http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/ a few sites that use temporary cookies need IE7 but I guarantee you wont go back.
P.S. should have mentioned it runs quite happily alongside IE7 you can chose which one to use as your default browser.

any explanation as to what these glitches may be?

We've got it running on 4 machines here and it's a whole lot better than IE6 ever was.

i could never get on with it, iv'e formatted since so i might give it another bash later on.

Though I'll side with Andy that IE7 is better than IE6, there are glitches. The infamous eBay "double-back" issue for example... This is probably an ebay-server-side issue, but people can't help but blame IE7...

I've changed from IE7 back to IE6 for exactly the same reasons as you reflexboy ....

Ebay does the same thing on IE6 too ....

Once it's all sorted out , maybe i'll change back to IE7 as, to be honest , i quite liked it ....

From this.....

in just two posts :)

So is it crap and full of glitches or just not to your liking?

It's a bit unfair to blame the browser just because loads of other people have

As for eBay it's full of silly little things like that even in IE6. For example if you use your mouse to highlight the search text then click to clear it you get sent back to your previous page :D

Although managing IT change pays my mortgage, I like change as much as anyone else, ie not much!!

IE7 doesn't seem to get off on the right foot because many people have encountered problems specifying there user options the first time they run it. A bug means it just keeps re-appearing eacg time you launch IE7. But there are a number of ways of fixing it - see other IE7 thread. Fonts also can look a little odd but there are fixes for that too. Once over those hurdles it become much better from there on.

I must say I think IE7 is reminiscent of Firefox to me, and I do prefer it to IE6.

Not bad IMHO.

I have no prob's with IE7 - neither do the kids. It's much better and more reliable than IE6. Using web mail does mean when you click a contact us email link it opens a web page rather than an outlook email box - but it will as you're not using outlook;) .

GOsh - I'm such a glass is half full chapess atm :D :D
