I have to say I'm disappointed with the release. I'll only buy one once it has 2 things, and I'm sure they will come.

1. USB port
2. Light version of OSX

What about flash ? I know Jobs hates it - but so many sites use it - so to get the "best" internet experience surely it's needed..

Or is it a battery issue?

Solved with a light version of OSX.

you'll never see a light version of osx on it.

the rumour is that they are working on a hybrid iOS/os x for future ipads, but even that rumour has it as a more advanced version of iOS, not a slim osx

as for a usb port, sadly i can't see that happening either... the apple port will continue to be used with the adapters being sold via apple (sd card, HMDI)

all in all the ipad 2 was a let down, with insiders saying that the retina screen and other improvements are to be held back for ipad 3.


and as for flash, no chance... apple will simply not go back on this now, too much has been said and written about it by both sides for apple to support it.

although you can get a third party program that supports it via cydia

it'll be a july announcement at the earliest, although reports are that the announcement will be pushed to september due to worldwide touchscreen shortages

We got an original iPad for the heck of it and I'm somewhat bemused by what all the fuss is about.

OK, you could think of things to do with it, but in everyday living room use, it gets wifey's email and it browses the web. I was quite surprised to find that I had to attath it to a computer to activate it - I expected it to be the computer in itself, if that makes sense. Not being easily able to print from it is a bit of a pain.

I hope that won't be the case, and believe its the only thing that will keep the ipad alive for years to come.

Apple still has the consider what its competitors do and what the market place wants, this alone will hopefully push Apple.

Whilst it will undoubtedly be a commercial success it will be blown out of the water in a few months by Android devices. In the meantime my blackberry's not working.
