I guess what you should be saying is you will make sure your car is as original as it can be. That's why the above car is the price it is - excellent provenance.
He may not get that price, but it is not an unreasonable starting point.
I think these cars do deserve to be cared for, as the next generation that come through will have heard about, seen pictures, and will want to buy these superbly designed cars, if only as weekend luxury stylish cruisers, to have a change from their everyday buzzboxes.
The new younger generation coming through generally have more disposable income than previous generations (hence the reason that standards of living are always increasing as the years go by - credit crunches excepted) and there will be even more of those people than today that are able and willing to spend on their interests and hobbies. The market for the car enthusiast that likes 'our' style of cars will therefore get bigger, and if we let 'our' cars wear out and die, the ones that survivie will be in great demand and command higher prices.
A great many of these people do not want 'project' cars, they want good original cars they can jump into and use.
£10,000 is not that much money to many in this market, that want to indulge their whims.
As above, because money £££s get bigger as the years go by, the same applies to spare parts and labour charges, and it is becoming unreasonable to expect to get any real quality in a £2000 coupe today that is full of non genuine parts.
If you believe in the above scenario I have outlined, you will pay the price and only put genuine replacement parts on your car and keep it in the way that it was made - original.
And it will be priced accordingly - not £2000 as a rolling project which so many appear to be.
