ironside wannabe!

I guess what you should be saying is you will make sure your car is as original as it can be. That's why the above car is the price it is - excellent provenance.

He may not get that price, but it is not an unreasonable starting point.

I think these cars do deserve to be cared for, as the next generation that come through will have heard about, seen pictures, and will want to buy these superbly designed cars, if only as weekend luxury stylish cruisers, to have a change from their everyday buzzboxes.

The new younger generation coming through generally have more disposable income than previous generations (hence the reason that standards of living are always increasing as the years go by - credit crunches excepted) and there will be even more of those people than today that are able and willing to spend on their interests and hobbies. The market for the car enthusiast that likes 'our' style of cars will therefore get bigger, and if we let 'our' cars wear out and die, the ones that survivie will be in great demand and command higher prices.

A great many of these people do not want 'project' cars, they want good original cars they can jump into and use.

£10,000 is not that much money to many in this market, that want to indulge their whims.

As above, because money £££s get bigger as the years go by, the same applies to spare parts and labour charges, and it is becoming unreasonable to expect to get any real quality in a £2000 coupe today that is full of non genuine parts.

If you believe in the above scenario I have outlined, you will pay the price and only put genuine replacement parts on your car and keep it in the way that it was made - original.

And it will be priced accordingly - not £2000 as a rolling project which so many appear to be.

yes highly priced, but extreemly low mileage and looks mint. i doubt he will get that price, but should get a little under. the specialists will probably contact him anyway in view of buying

Not a 10k colour and if the A/C just needs a belt ,why don't you just fix it you waster !

Exackerly. This winds me up and, I'm sure, puts many buyers off. If a "£10K" (Snigger) car needs a £100 fix, erm- Why don't you do it? It shows no confidence in the car whatsoever.

I've sent and email to the seller asking about the a/c. I'll report back if I get a reply.

Edit: Ebay reply:

I will try and contact my father and see what he says,,,he has gone away for 10 days.
If it was more than just the belt Im sure he would reduce the price to allow for the repair or part needed.

How can the aircon have no belt? It's the same belt that works the waterpump, power steering etc.
Not worth 10K or anything close to it.

didnt notice there were faults; i thought it was faultless.

yes i agree if he wants anywhere near these top prices, the car needs to be faultless.

Plus manual seats and no cruise. He's had the airbag recall but at 65k, when's the CHG gonna give up? If it's been done I certainly would have mentioned it. Can't see it, but I bet the armrest piping is broken. Rear screen delaminated as per and finally, that old chestnut - the E320 badge has been moved.

Still, like mine, looks a nice honest original motor now really starting to become rare. 10/10 for optimism - £6.5k tops!

Is it me or does the car look steamed up in the pictures taken from the back?

..Rear screen delaminated as per...

Yup, can see it clearly on the driver's side.
Probably also needs new rear cards. Could be just the plastic bit broken but it's usually the card itself that's falling apart. (look around the seat belt presenter)

The car doesn't even look that clean out side.

Rear window steamed up in the pictures.

A/C not working so how can it be mint?

Low millage is not always best but the thing is if you start putting miles on it the value with plumet.

Theres nothing really that makes it stand out. I certainly wouldn't pay anywhere near 10K for it. Its an old merc at the end of the day and sorry but not a classic in the sense of a Pagoda top.

Nice yes but that's it.

Mine has twice the miles but is in better condition...
...something isn't quite right about this one.

It's not a heap. It's an above average example BUT he's asking 10K

i think its down to the fact that his dad bought it as a 4 year old car and probably cost him double that or more

the ammount of stuff thats no included of the extras list and the colour will stop him getting even half that

but its a good idea to start high for the first listing then lower it a bit for the 2nd or 3rd listings

and god knows it will be listed again

Re A/C...just needs a new belt....more likely a new compressor.
