is this a wise buy???

If his brother owns the car and is not sure when he will be back who's going to sign the registered keeper transfer form?

It does look nice but 200k miles and I didn't see any reference to service history. Seller says it has a recon engine from Dronsfields and yet they are scappies, not reconditioners.

It might be a good car but the story about the owner being away too ...

I'd get someone I trusted to carry out a full inspection before handing over any cash for this.

Dronsfields aren't just a scrapyard. They recondition parts and also do servicing and mechanical repairs.

Their website doesn't say anything I can see about supplying recon engines.

Horn doesn't work - "probably a fuse". Yeah right, so he's saying he hasn't actually spent 30 seconds checking it? Hmmm...

Horn not working is an MOT fail. It could be the clockspring but it isn't going to be a fuse unless the person selling it is absolutely bone idle as William above has noted. That's a couple of hundreds to sort.

All seems a bit mysterious. I'm not sure what the AMG credentials are that he's listed in the title, but all the amazing features he lists are standard anyway, apart from soft close doors.

As V12 rightly says, W221 prices are falling more and more and will be even lower next year when the W222 becomes more popular. You may even be able to pick up a facelift W221 this time next year for a few £thousand more than this S320 you've found.

The new advert mentions nothing about an engine change too. Other item for sale is a pizza oven.... Strange stuff.

Does the pizza oven have any service history ?

None mentioned so I am sceptical.

I bought a car many moons ago in my youth from a guy purporting to be selling on behalf of his girlfriend who was 'away' somewhere.

A complete nightmare, I learned a very hard lesson and ever since have double checked everything. No matter how good the deal I would avoid this one.
