Is this for real ?

If you live near Bath, or if you live on close to the route which you might take if travelling from Warwick to Bath, then it seems completely normal and relevant to mention it.

It's polite, yes. But nice people are :thumb:

Just email the address stated, rather than reply or click a link.

Would a student have a Warwick University e-mail address ?

E-mail didn't exist when I was a student but I would expect warwick.ac.uk e-mail accounts to belong to staff rather than students.

They let the students have email addresses. Ridiculous I know.

Yes long time since I've been a student. But nowadays, they have uni email accounts, student credit accounts (use credits to pay for things on campus), en-suite bathrooms....

A son of a wealthy Singaporean would typically be very nice and polite. Cars in this country seem a pittance to them compared to what they are used to back home. Remember, in Singapore you have to have a licence to use the car on the road. These licences are only issued every time a car is scrapped. This keeps the numbers constant. When you sell a second hand car, typically it will be sold at a massive increase in price because the licence to the car is highly sought after.

So you might sell a 5 year old Ford Fiesta for £50k because the buyer will scrap the Fiesta and use the licence for his Lamborghini.

LOTS of Chinese students at Warwick Uni.
I live and work within 5 mins of it, so if I can be of any help, just pm.

When my daughter & I visited a couple of years on our tour of unis she might go to we thought we had wandered into China Town.

There's Chinese students at every uni making up more numbers than British. Not to mention the summer exchanges

One poor girl at Leicester a fortnight ago was moving out the accommodation to go back, and we ended up helping her and her room mate down four flights of stairs with their stuff as the lift was out  She kept laughing at everything I said, not sure if I was being hilarious or if she misunderstood me, haha

Perhaps we should refer to Frederick Jon Chen as Singaporean [ his nationality ] rather than Chinese [ his race]

Easy way is get a number for him, call him and ask you want to chat about the car see what the reply is , if he says what car be careful if he says oh yes you must be so and so about the merc should be ok but still meet publically

As Nexman says. I have dealings with Singaporeans; they are almost invariably polite, friendly, unassuming, honest, and speak good English. I have no trouble believing the initial request is genuine. I know neither you nor your car, but it is more likely you will rip him off than that he will mug you.

Don't over-think this. Have a chat; meet him; if you're happy, give him a demo run/test drive; agree a price and sell him the car. Simples...

Freddie & his parents came & looked at the car, we went for drive all usual things, Freddie is a really lovely chap plus according to my 18yr old daughter "He's gorgeous". His father is a really funny guy, he had me in stitches & he kept telling me I was awful in a nice way) we really hit it off.

After we did all the paper work etc they spent some time with us & he we started talkng about cars(who'd of thought it) now I prompted this discussion.

In singapore the Dad has since new a Sl Pagoda, I think he said its a 280 he also has wait for it a right hand drive CLK DTM AMG.. He said Freddie used to sit in the Pagoda when very young & drive it up & down the driveway to their house lol.

The Mum was very interested in my daughters A level artwork & adored our Whippets, she wanted to smooth them all the time until they left.

Just the sort of people you would be lucky to have as friends.

Great story and update :) Just shows there are plenty of genuine nice people about.

TBH I was shocked , she never shows any outward interest to anyone.

OH Rory , I'm assuming you have no daughters or none grown up ...there is no one good enough...its written on the door step as that's where they stay...:D

Pleased it all worked out so well. Nice to have pleasant buyers!

Am I the only one thinking of Mr D. Emery there?! :D :dk:
