Hi All

How do I find out if my car was fitted with ISOFIX?

Should there be something obvious or do i have to lift the rear seats to find out?

thanks

There should be a flap where the back of the seat meets the base squab. Lift the flap and the fixing is there.

Some sort superior of fixing for child seats I think.

We've got a Recaro seat for the little'un with an Isofix base in the B Class. No messing about with the seat belt as the seat has its own harness built in.

Place an Isofix-equipped car seat into the rear seat of your car (behind the driver's seat).
Push it in as securely as possible (do not strap it in using the seatbelt).
Drive away at a fair old whack.
Brake very sharply.
If you feel an agonising pain in the back of your head (like being hit extremely hard with a heavy blunt instrument), you don't have Isofix and have just been struck by the car seat as it flies rapidly towards the windscreen.

ISO-FIX uses a mechanical connection to anchor the seat to the anchor, so you don't need to use the belt to secure the child seat.

It uses a small horizontal bar, mounted to the car, and a hook/clasp slots over the bar and locks in a fixed position. You should see the small metal bars if you look around the area where the backrest meets the base, with a pair on each side of the car.

Once you've had it you'll never go back to belts!!
