Bought a 300-CE 24v as a project car a week ago today:

Drove perfectly once hot, but was hard to start when cold and had various other minor issues to sort.

Was on my way to a local garage to sort out a replacement fuel filter on Friday when a vw crafter flatbed pulled out of a side road onto where I was on a 70 MPH dual carriageway. Luckily they didn't hit the much smaller car in front of me.

Result:

Banged my head on the drivers side window and a can of coke in the centre console got launched but not enough to achieve orbit..

So my now failed attempt to get back into the straight 6 - 24V engined cars I like, has failed.. Just trying to work out what next to buy.

Oh and the big kicker is that when I got home after the crash I returned to a pile of boxes just been delivered which had all the new parts and service items to fix up the old girl... :o bugger!

time to hit ebay - and at least you were not too hurt

done ebay, done pistonheads and car and classics.. off to BCA auction tomorrow to see if there is anything odd or cool worth having.

Maybe someone will suggest a bit of T-Cut to polish out the damage :D

That is sad to hear!

Do you want to sell the interior, what colour & condition is it in...

It was a standard blue cloth interior. I doubt I'll try to buy it back off the insurance company though as it will be probably written off.

Always look at positives...your project just got slightly bigger :)

Well at least it didn't happen on the first run out after having fully restored it!

Glad you survived along with your enthusiasm to find another so soon.

What a shame .

As above , at least it happened before you started working on it .

Time to chase up the insurance settlement then go look for another one - the parts will still come in useful .

I miss my 300-24 , one of my favourite cars .

Thanks, yes I had a 300E-24 saloon a while back and really enjoyed it, hence me looking to get back into on as a fixer-upper. Have been trawling the classifieds etc already.

Bloody hell, that's a bit of bad luck.

Anyway, a great excuse to go out and buy another one! :D :thumb:
