No, it's not actually - but you might think otherwise looking at this view of Ribblesdale Viaduct taken around midday last Sunday.

Just returned from a splendid break at Arncliffe, deep in the Yorkshire Dales. Great hotel, even better grub.

But boy, did it rain? Got soaked in Settle, drenched in Harrogate and Knaresborough and flooded out in Hawes. Not to worry, it's still bucketing down in Edinburgh.

They're a prosperous lot in Harrogate - a tenner each for fish'n'chips in Betty's

Returning home up the streaming wet A68 north of Corbridge, a BMW 5 Series with a small badge marked 'Northumbria Constabulary Advanced Driver Training' on the bootlid shot past. I was doing 55 and, I kid you not, the guy must have been doing 90!

No you mis read the sign -- it stood for "Not Caring A Toss"

Well what do you expect getting Fish and Chips n Betty's :D

I really hope you enjoyed your trip to my kneck of the woods. Thats a stunning pic too.

Sorry the weather was naff though - it's been grim for a few days it has to be said.

Thank you for the post, as I will be there for the Xmas do in Harrogate and I intend to take a couple of days off for it

You are always welcome to drop in for a brew on't nice side o t'ills.

I may take Ian up on this, its a pity that we do not make our own white metal bearings any more, otherwise I can have done some and scraped them to fit, or maybe lapping some bearings in while drinking the tea :D:D

What a cracking a picture you really are excellent with a camera, thanks for sharing mate

The rain has been pretty down South too....

A tenner for Fish n Chips? I'm a local and I've never been to Betty's - the long queues and daylight robbery always put me off!

Next time you're down our way go to Graveleys - that's a great old fashioned chippy with restaurant.

Great picture by the way. The weather here has been shocking recently but it's nice and sunny today! :) The rain breached my poor old CE's defences. :(

Glad you enjoyed your hols.

I thought that picture was taken in Essex!
I'm sure I ead somewhere that it was the home of quite a few sharks. :D

I will now await the comments of our politically correct police patrols to respond  ;)

I though it was the Essex girls who were the problem
