Recently noticed some new behaviour with my W205 C200 with the 722.9 gearbox. Currently on 45k miles.

I feel like the gear shifts have started becoming a bit more clunky (could just be in my head I suppose).

What's not in my head though is at very low speed it almost judders slightly for a second or so before moving, almost like a manual transmission with the clutch going slightly past its bite point. Its intermittent and I cant find any pattern to it.

No codes showing on my Carly device either so not entirely sure whether to leave it and let it blow up (under warranty) or I need to sort it out quickly.

Had similar with one of my E Classes. The torque converter was replaced under warranty and the problem was cured.

Might be worth changing the transmission fluid first if it hasn't been done. Used to be scheduled at 37.5k.

Edited to say beaten to it by the post above.

Checked your transmission fluid level? Or when was it last changed?

Is there an easy way to check it or is it literally taking all the fluid out and seeing how much is inside and refilling?

Did it throw up a code at all?

Book is saying 5 years / 75k miles. Cant find any evidence of it being changed in the paperwork. Had for 2 years now and doesnt look like Merc Newcastle where I bought it from checked that it had been done either by the looks of it

You should have a transmission fluid dip stick, have a google, there are several items on how to check fluid levels. When checking the levels, it should give you an indication of the state of the fluid, colour etc.

How old id the car ? (never mind the mileage) No evidence of a transmission service ? Get it booked in for a transmission service maybe.

9 years old. I can't see anything at all. Has a full Mercedes service history but nothing on transmission fluid change.

The W205 doesn't have a dipstick. Just has an oil dipstick

No codes but it felt like you were driving over a cattle grid under acceleration.

If it has a dipstick - surely that will indicate how much ATF is in gearbox??
Just an engine oil dipstick.

Not a dipstick for the transmission fluid. Done some more research on it and looks like theres some kind of viewing window / portal underneath the car in the W205 to check transmission fluid

Ive noticed a change in noise under acceleration, again intermittently. Sounds like grating almost but it doesn't lose power or judder whilst accelerating.

There is no dipstick on the 722.9 box , it’s fill from below via the sump plug .
With no codes I would be looking at paying an Indy to do the gearbox oil and filter service

So the vehicle went into Mercedes Wakefield last month. Said there is nothing wrong with it but have updated the software as it was on original 2015 software. Apparently there was a software change in late 2015 to 2016 due to hesitancy / clunky gear changes.

Does seem to have cured most of the hesitancy / juddering issues that I had before.

Ive noticed it seems to idle a touch higher and shifts down earlier before dropping the RPM's too much.

Oil level was OK, no codes on the gearbox and seems to have sorted the issue.
