Junk Call claiming to be from Microsoft

Just had a phone call from someone claiming to be from Microsoft eventually wanting to take control of my pc.

Please be aware.

How/where did they get your number?

yes - I have had them call me a few times - I normally ask them who they are, what company they work for and are they aware that this number is registered with the Telephone Preference service. I then tell them that I am not an idiot, politely tell them to **** off and put the phone down.
They get numbers by using a calling robot - have you ever had any silent calls? You pick up the phone and nobody is there? It is probably a robot caller checking that somebody answered the phone - if you answer (which you will) - it sends the number to these crooks.
Quite honestly - anybody that hands over control of their PC to an unknown caller - whoever he says he represents - is a fool.
