E63 AMG
Hi. I've got a 2013 E63 amg 5.5. Ive noticed when the car is cold, it seems jurky to accelerate from a stand still. Only when accelerating really slowly, at first i thought it was gearbox related, but not so sure now. I've just had the gearbox serviced and it hasnt gone away. Is this kind of thing a software issue or could it be a fueling issue? Everything seems fine when moving and when the car is warm.

Thanks

Fault codes?....if you have not got them downloaded then do that first.... otherwise any online opinions given on here are semi guesses without that info.

Fair point thankyou. Theres no errors coming up on the dash. Could there be still codes on there?

I know this may sound daft, but it’s very easy to experience what aviators refer to as PIO - pilot induced oscillation - with the throttle on the E63 when it’s cold. In other words, you start to open the throttle, the car takes off and your foot moves back slightly causing the throttle to close, your weight shifts forward and you open the throttle a little more and the cycle repeats.

Mine was remapped and the gearbox used to try to "creep" from standstill.
I would check if the gearbox need readaptation or a software update.
I just lived with the issue.

Thanks for the reply. I was thinking about the software update

A Mercedes specialist with STAR should be able to see if the transmission has the latest software or if an update is available and apply it.
Probably cheaper than the main stealer anyway.
Its going into a merc specialist tomorrow, so ill ask them. Thanks

An auto box should cheap forward with no throttle whilst in drive if you lift off the brake....assuming that's what you meant.

The garage has looked at it. And there aren't any error codes. They have the current software number. But unsure if its an old or new update. How will we tell?

Hardware version - 47/06
hardware number - 0034460610
software version - 20/12
software number - 0009028111

When did it last have a transmission service? id start there. Mercedes gearbox can be a bit jerky when cold, most of the generations I have seen have been.

Is this just the very first time the car is moving off from when it has been started or does it happen for numerous start stops from a standstill

Its mainly from cold. Might do it the first couple of times but soon stops once warm

Thanks

And by jerky, just how jerky is it,.can you add a bit more colour. Is it for example just a couple light jerks ? Also how is the first gear shift, is that jerky too or just moving from a standstill (and how much pedal are giving the accelerator )

Yeah they are quite light jerks. Mainly when i accelerate slowly. The first gear change is sometimes a bit harsh. But that goes once warm as well
