You can't use a biscuit tin or similar because the coating of plastic prevents a full Faraday cage being formed. I use a small stainless steel tin bought off ebay I think. Test your solution by taking the tin next to the car and see if the door will open.

You'll need to use the fob to open the car next time though as you have disabled keyless entry with a double click on the fob.
