Hey everyone I’m hoping someone can help me with a rather annoying issue with my s212 e350 estate. I’ve had a few bits done to the car over the last month like a gearbox service and replacement rear air suspension bags etc. I don’t believe they are in anyway connected to my issue.

Unfortunately I now have a really annoying from what I can describe as a knock / click noise from around the front end of the car and this issue only happens when for instance I drive forward and touch the brakes it will make the noise if I then reverse the car for a little and touch the brakes it dose it again but absolutely fine when driving. Seems to be at low speeds coming to junctions etc

I would imagine it’s something to do with the brakes but what’s concerning me is why wouldn’t it make this noise all the time when braking ? It’s only when pulling off and reversing etc

Has anyone else had this kind of issue before ? My recently purchased tyres look to have been churned up and very rough around the edges I had the 4 wheel tracking done a few months ago.

I’ve taken off all the wheels and had a good check around and can’t find any issues anywhere so any help would be extremely grateful thanks

Could the spring on the brake pad be lose and the noise you're hearing is the pad moving?
I'd be thinking more of worn lower arm bushes/drop links ect!

Could be many things that cause a knock as the weigh shifts under braking/accelerating. Could be a balljoint, drop link, mounts, so hard to say without seeing it. Have you a local garage who could investigate on a ramp?
