So does anyone else use Konfabulator? The program enhances your desktop experience (either Windows XP or Mac OSX) with the addition of widgets. The shareware program has been available for quite a while but since the recent acquisition by Yahoo in the last couple of weeks the program is now freeware :D

I've been using it for the last 3 or 4 days and I have to say that I am hooked. Especially by the clock / calendar & weather forecast widgets, heh and a Simpsons quote widget too.

Just thought I'd share as I hadn't seen it mentioned on the forums at all.

Thanks for that. Very nice slick Mac style graphics and smooth operation. I have the clock and weather running.

Who needs OSX Tiger?

I've just downloaded it. What widgets should I get?
Some widgets come bundled with the Konfabulator software such as a nifty looking analogue clock, calendar, weather forecast, battery indicator & wi-fi signal level etc.

Others that I have downloaded include a shortcut link to the BBC online radio streams, a Simpsons random quote generator and a live cam feed of the M4 along the South Wales corridor.

If you search through the widget gallery the descriptions should give you an idea of whether a widget will be a must have for you or not.

Thanks for the link,

John

Don't get me started!!!!!

Seriously though - I used this for a while on both my apple and pc and it worked ok. Bit of a resource hog in my opinion, but it certainly does the job.

Some of the widgets are really good!

Yeah, it does slow your PC down, so just don't get carried away with too many widgets ! Nice little app. though - been using it for a few weeks.

Keep it lean and mean guys.

Great software, If you like it; can I also reccomend Samurize. Very similar, and its been always free! You can also make composite things and monitor your system status quite well... (HIGHLY recomended if you use 2 or more screens... it looks amazing when you have an old 15" screen dedicated to it :D )
