No, not related in the slightest to what I'm inquiring about - incorrect era and not a saloon, lovely car and all that 540K will make.

Grober, the 130/50 from what I understand was only delivered to Iran on request by the Shah or under some deal offered by M-B, they were never marketed anywhere else.

The particular car I'm aware of had the date of Reg as 1970, stacked headlights and armored. The registration documents stated it was a 130/50, nothing else. I understand it was based in Portugal by an Irish gent and only used while he was living there right up to the early 90's and then on his death taken to Ireland by his niece sometime between 1995-1997 and later sold to classic & vintage car collector who swiftly sold it for a massive profit to a Merc collector.

Just wondering what exactly it is.

Yes, I suspected it was a W109 (rather than an 8) running a M100 6.3. Who knows? The gent that told me about it, a collector himself and would know his onions, stated that M-B made several and all went to Iran, just he couldn't tell much more as there was a gang of people at the time him looking for info on his 1911 Renault he was driving. So, I didn't persist with taking up his time.

It may not have really been that special of a car other than it was unique in some spec or other and they all went to Iran, possibly a job lot. Just the nomenclature 130/50 is baffling.

The company I worked for in the late 70's/80's supplied armoured W116 450 6.9's to the Shah's family
