Was just wondering if anyone is heading to Le Mans this year?

Never been but have thought about going recently - certainly interested.

We're booked - via 1st Tickets / Lycian Events, along with a bunch of others from PCGB (although PCGB this year are not officially involved with LM). going over on the Thursday via Eurotunnel, camping, have booked seats in grandstand 15, coming back Monday. Will be the first time for us, but friends from PCGB Kent region are going for about the 22nd time!

Probably :dk: not decided on our Motorsport activities yet for this year but as we didn't go to LM last year I think it highly likely we will be there this year :thumb:

I used to go every year for ages, up to 2000. I miss it. Used to take my E-Type for a good stretch. Poor thing - it's itching for another run like that now.

Don't tempt me! On second thoughts - please do.

We're booked - I've been every year since 1998 - but my brother in law is coming up to 28 years on the bounce I think.

We're making the trip in his Range Rover - in previous years have been down in various transport including an E55 of mine.

Getting sorted this year has been a nightmare though because of the way the ACO had allocated the tickets - its a long story, but basically they'd given ours away, even though we go each year and more or less had a standing order - so we've had to start from scratch.

Thus far, only camping is proving a problem..........as we already got grandstand/entrance etc. not many people offer just camping. This is compounded by the fact we come from jersey so arrange our own boat. Booking places normally offer the only the whole package ie P & O ferry or similar plus camping - so trying to get just camping is pretty hard!

Mark.

Also booked...

Also going in a range rover...

Also had hassle with getting tickets though ACO

No relation to Mark though!

From what I understand the easiest and best way to obtain tickets in the future via the ACO is to become a member (Although only one member of a party needs to join to be able to get tickets).

Still cynical me would say thats a good way for them to raise extra funds during hard times!

sorry - should have been clearer - we are members of ACO, and have been for a few years, and still struggled this year!

Will be there, fast ferry on the friday morning Poole Cherbourg. same on the return leg on monday.
Will be staying in a friends farm house in Arnage :rock:
this will be my 13th year. Only been nicked the once for speeding.

This year the convoy will be W124 Coupe, BMW 330d Coupe, Skyline R32 (500hp ish) and a Fiat 500 Abarth (Chipped) A nice varied selection.

A friend of a friend of mine is an ACO member, and has sorted out the pitches on the campsite. Apparently he had a bit of a faff as well. It'll be my first year, have been more of an F1/MotoGP follower up until now.

Is the grandstand really that good? Surely it's better to move around the track a bit, especially for such a long race?:dk:

You will move around, Granstand is Ok for a while and worth it for the start and finish. There is enough time to go exploring, get a good map of the track. Plenty of vantage points between the Grandstand and Tetre Rouge (not to mention beer selling establishments). Plenty going on in the village (behind the pitlane). there will be a bit of walking involved.

Yes - going with a group from a national newspaper who will be covering the event. I will just be a hanger-on but think we're hotelling it somewhere local.

Can't wait...

If I can help with camping only please contact me with a PM

Porkieboy, I think you'll have a problem with PM's - ISTR you have to have 30 posts before the mods activate PM's for you - unless you can convince a mod to activate it earlier.

Hi, I am interested, but aren't able to PM you........how are you able to help with camping?

Thanks

Mark.
