Le Mans 2013 - review

Ouch. But I guess everybody knows what the score is with the French police, so doing 120 mph there is very much a calculated risk.

These sort of speeds driving to Le Mans are very foolish. The police know the popular routes, and are going to be staked out (I'm not joking - they hide in bushes wearing camouflage), it's just not worth the risk.

This year I was driving significantly quicker in England than France. Ironically I set off 2 hours behind our group from Calais and despite driving like Miss Daisy, through judicious use of back roads at Le Mans (I was very lucky where I came off, and surprised a few policemen popping out of roads unexpected) arrived 30 seconds behind them.

Not really a good idea to do those sorts of speeds on the roads anywhere apart from on the autobahns ;-)

But yes they do hide out, the one that caught me was stood with a group on an bridge waving at all the cars going past...

Since then it is just a nice slow cruise there and back.
