There is a rip in the passenger seat of the latest acquisition 2009 C220 Blue Magic. I learned the hard way from refurbing AMG alloys myself that YouTube is not real life hehe, though getting an awl and waxed thread and learning to sew is not my jam. Do you think I should canvass the local WI for a seamstress?

Either that or buy a new seat cover , someone said they're on eBay for something like £40 , China's finest.

Cobblers, leatherworkers, upholsterer, or a touch of superglue  depends on how fussy you are.

On the other hand, should you change your mind and fancy having a go yourself, there are such things as leather sewing repair kits readily available like this one as an example ...

Couple of your favourite YT guides ha-ha. I'm sure the chap in the first clip skips some holes which if it were me, I wouldn't be doing, not holier-than-thou you understand, just that my lovely old mum always taught me if a job's worth doing it's worth doing well. ;)

When you get to the second clip I think you will see what I mean, but the fella has a go and at least saves his car seat form further damage for the foreseeable, so hats off to him for tackling the problem head on, even if it did bring me out in a sweat

A routine repair for any car upholstery specialist. Not that expensive - certainly cheaper than fitting a new cover, no matter where you source it.

New replacements sound like fun, but you've still got to fit and match them

I'm on Anglesey, might have just found a chap locally actually fingers crossed. Much as I'm impressed with the new acquisition, it'll be getting moved on, it's not a keeper. A rare bird with the 6spd manual box but I'm prefer autos on mercs and the laziness of cruise control which this one doesn't have. Thanks for the responses though lads and lasses

Obvious but worth noting that many minor jobs with upholsterers are much cheaper if you remove and refit the cover yourself ......

I though everything Merc in recent decades had cruise.......

My 209 was a 6 speeder....still had cruise though.
