Hello all

Does anyone know of a good independent car repair shop that specialises in Merecedes Benz and could replace my w210 e class estate brake pads and discs for less than a Merecedes main dealer - using original merecedes parts of course.

MB Chelsea are quoting £700 for pad front and rear and discs front !

Many thanks

If se23 is not to far for you, than i`ll give you some info.

You could buy all the parts required from a motor factor for somewhere in the region of £100-£150 , using OEM parts such as ATE , and do the job yourself in a couple of hours . Can't be any more specific without knowing your exact model of car .

I recently did the brakes on my 500SEL ( 4 discs , all pads + handbrake shoes , genuine ATE parts ) for under £200 . No specialist tools required . Did the whole job in an afternoon - AND I know it has been done right !

There's a Haynes manual for the W124 series , which is mechanically very similar to your W210 , which explains clearly with pictures of each step if you're not sure how to go about it .

Parts specialists such as ECP , GSF or our very own Nick Mercedes would be able to supply what you need .

Can give you a contact in Maidstone - jct 5 M20 - is not far out of London who could do the work and is Merc Technician. PM me for info?

Trip down to Olly's place (Prestige Car Service, excellent MB-indi garage), he's a member on here:

I would also recommend PCS.

I was there on Tuesday, and I am based in Canary Wharf!

And my misses had a great day out in Portsmouth!

Thanks Olly, great work and very efficient.

Simon

PCS - terrific, my first choice but a road trip

I once used Mercservices in Tooting Broadway/Colliers Wood for front discs & pads. They're still going strong 2 yrs later but a bit pricey [c. £300 IIRC]

I've used James Leigh in Merton a couple of times to have the W168 serviced. Very reasonably priced - although an A Service was slightly cheaper with MB Mitcham (Now called MB Colliers Wood) - but I guess any additional work with the dealer would have increased the price considerably.
