Spotted this in the local garage this morning a 1924 Trojan Utility. Seems to have lasted well for what was a basic basic vehicle, no sign of rust :) shot with camera phone :(

1527cc two stroke engine, if you'd looked under the bonnet you wouldn't have found it, it's under the floor like an A class was. This one has pneumatic tyres, they cost £5 extra when new, car was £145 new in 1926. Trojan claimed it was cheaper to run their cars than the cost of boot leather and socks if you walked.

The biggest user of Trojan's commercial vehicles was the Brooke Bond Tea Company, whose red painted vans with Croydon registered numberplates covered the country.

I think that the two items to the right are the hand brake and the manual (!) starter, which worked on the ratchet and pawl principle. The cars had a two speed epicyclic gearbox and chain drive to a solid rear axle.

If this was near the New Forest, the guy who owns it has the car in a write up in this months Classic Cars Mag.

These Trojans have a mid mounted two stroke engine!

Slightly disturbing - the SIZE of the foam fire extinguisher!
But I suppose if it "blows up" there is no roof to bang your head against!
