My new to me S213.

That looks really nice, I originally looked at a Hyacinth saloon before buying my black one, I felt the colour didn’t look as good in the flesh as in the ads. However, that interior colour really makes it ‘pop’ - congrats.
Thank you, it does take a certain type of sunlight for the colour to really show. I have a Melanite coloured car and it spends most of its life one shade of black or another but on the right day it really does change to a few shades of green with bronze highlights.
I would have preferred a nice mystic blue but..

Well, Chris did ask.. not often called a gentleman either, no bragging intended, just very happy that I have managed to buy a nice car..
Having met you a few years back at Strictly Mercedes I'd have no reservations about describing you as a gentleman! You've bought a lovely car that SWMBO would never let me buy as our main car (which the C220Cdi is), I wanted to buy an SLK55 as the weekend toy, but as soon as I mention 350bhp the shutters went closed on that idea very swiftly! The idea of the power of a C63 (the E is too big for her) as the main car would get shut down even quicker!

Thank you, yes we met at the Tesco initially, before driving down to Beaulieu in convoy. …. SHMBO has always had the better car, “dockyard runarounds” for me most of my life.

I am very lucky, SHMBO doesn’t deny me a nice car, subject to it not impacting on our lifestyle.

stunning looking car with a lovely color combo.

the centre caps don't need a tool, can be twisted by hand so wouldn't worry there. They also do fall off if not put on properly.

Thank you, just found this out by having a fiddle…. one was not on correctly so lucky not to have lost it. Going to clean them up and make sure that they click correctly into place.. but of a shoddy item really.. still lots to sort out with it though but enjoying it so far..

Just a quick first impressions of the 213 against the 211..

Size, it appears to be a big car and seems even bigger inside, yet side by side there is very little difference. The 213 is a little taller, so more headroom and a little wider so not sure how MB have managed that illusion.
Build quality definitely belongs to the 211. The 211 has far more quality parts that are nicely finished off, the glove box has a shelf and a “lucky” coin holder for me shopping trolley.

I can’t see the fuel cap on the 213 lasting the test of time..flimsy item.

Comfort, both have Airmatic and ride well, the 211 on 18’s and the 213 on 20’s so not a lot in that.

Performance, well both deliver power in different ways, the 213 very quickly and very innocently gets you above the advised speed limits whereas the 211 lets you know that you are “up and off”

Under acceleration the 213 in comfort gives me the feeling that the rear is trying to catch up with the front which is a bit odd. In sport they appear to work better in unison and the car pulls well.
The 213 on decent B roads feels really sure footed and takes the bends and rises very well and cruises very nicely on motorways as you would expect.
The 213 around town is a bit of a let down imho, the front skips and skates on slow speed turns and the steering is fairly heavy. Embarrassing tyre squeals in car parks..

Tech is owned by the 213, so many options and settings and many more things I have yet to find.
I do like the HUD and find it very useful and am definitely enjoying the S213..

Not sure now you're getting tyre squealing? What tyres do you have on it?

Has Michelin PS4’s all round, tyre pressures at 36 F and 34 Rear atm as trying things out. Still lots to find out and try.. it is growing on me slowly..
Fronts should be at 41 and rears at 33, at least that’s what the fuel flap states. I run mine at those pressures and not really had any issues, aside from the obvious crabbing in winter (not that it goes very far that time of year).

Thank you, I shall double check and adjust, am sure my fuel cap stated 38F and 35 rear, on 20’s with two people but…. usually go lower on my MB’s and adjust until it feels nice.
Mine is not an “S” if that makes any difference.

Ah ok - maybe the estate has slightly lower pressures....either way I tend to go with what is on the flap, but I appreciate everyone is different :)

Morning slim just to clarify are you saying you prefer your glorious 55?

:D

It would be a very difficult call. I am hanging on to the S211 for another month. In Absolute honesty, if this S213 hasn’t ticked as many boxes as it did the choice would be easy..
