Looking to buy my first merc

I currently drive an audio A3 but I want to get a Merc and I need some help getting one coz I don't know which one to get
I'm looking for something fuel-efficient and I'm looking to get ether a w204 engine one or w203 engine
what would you guys suggest

W203 and W204 are model designations for versions of the C Class not engines


Each are available with a wide range of bothppetrol and diesel engines.

I would recommend avoiding W203 cars and early W204 cars that have the M271 petrol 4-cyl 1.8L Kompressor engines, due to potential issues with the timing gear.

The 4-Cyl Diesel engines are fine - e.g. 200CDI, 220CDI, and 250CDI, but buy on condition - while these Diesel engines are generally reliable, repairs, if needed, can be costly.

The 5g automatic transmission is very reliable, though the pilot push (electric connector) can often leak, so worth checking under the car.
